YMCA of CharlestonParkinson’s causes a loss in elements similar to those that boxers condition to improve. Boxers train for optimal agility, speed, muscular endurance, balance, coordination, footwork and strength. Research shows that forced, intense exercise can improve many Parkinson’s symptoms.

Advanced Physical Therapy ClinicThe Fitness Program provides an opportunity for patients who are discharged from formal physical therapy and want to continue to improve their fitness level. The Fitness Exercise Program offers increased comfort and confidence with qualified supervision. Patients are referred to this program by their therapist at the end of their course of treatment and ready for discharge.
